Based in London and Delhi, Humkalaam is an awareness campaign to promote Indian arts, literature, theatre and films. It’s also a celebration of the life and work of our favourite poets, musicians, writers and artists. Pervaiz Alam is the Artistic Director of Humkalaam.

A profile of Humkalaam’s Artistic Director:
Broadcaster, writer and producer, Pervaiz Alam is the Artistic Director of  Humkalaam.Based in London and Delhi, he has produced and directed stage programmes in India and the UK. He is also the Director of India-EU Film Initiative.

Recently, he directed and produced an internationally acclaimed BBC series of 156 radio plays in Hindi, Life Gulmohar Style, (http://www.lifegulmoharstyle.org/), broadcast by more than 15 FM Networks in India. The series went into production after having extensive consultations at a number of Delhi colleges such as IP College for Women, Lady Shri Ram College and the Indian Institute of Mass Communications.

Pervaiz started his career from the All India Radio in New Delhi as a Programme Executive . Later, he moved on to join the BBC in London. After having worked with the BBC Hindi and Urdu Services as a senior producer for more than ten years, he went on to join the BBC World, the international television news channel.

At BBC World, he worked as the Executive Producer of a number of popular television programmes such as the Question Time India (with Prannoy Roy, Vikram Chandra, Sonia Varma, Dilip Padgaonkar and Sagarika Ghosh as presenters), India Business Report (Raghav Behl as presenter), Mastermind India (Siddharth Basu as presenter), HARDtalk India & Face To Face (Karan Thapar as presenter), Business Bites (Ronnie Screwala), HARDtalk Pakistan (Mehreen Jabbar as presenter), Bollywood Bosses and Bollywood Inc.

Award-winning broadcaster, Pervaiz developed and produced several radio programming concepts for the BBC Hindi Service such as a 13-part series’Lata Ki Kahaani’ as told by the legendary playback singer Lata Mangeshkar herself, a 7-part series on Sitar Maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar ‘Ravi Katha Ananta’ and programmes based on Mehdi Hasan, Ghulam Ali, Abida Parveen, Pandit Jasraj and others based on their exclusive interviews.
